Being of a certain age my Friday night radio listening used to revolve
around the late
Tommy Vance's
Friday Rock Show,
which I'd invariably tape and re-visit during the week, rather like a late
70s/early 80s style podcast. Now I'm listening to Ewan's
rock podcasts
every Friday on the Podcast Network, Ewan seems to variously title it TPN
Rock, or just "The Rock Show". Whatever, it's all good to
me.
He's discovering new bands that I've never heard of, which sounds grim at
first, but the majority are superb and I've not heard a truly duff one yet.
If you're into pretty much any genre of rock music I'd suggest giving Ewan's
rock music podcast
a few listens.
Mixed results after the first week, some progress, but not quite as
much as hoped for, and the exercise programme hasn't fully kicked off
yet.
Anyway vital figures are, current loss 1kg, so 12kg to go.
The Excel charts are reporting a trend of 0.6kg loss, but the trend
is following a longer term moving average so it hasn't quite tipped onto the
downslope yet. Given that I had 3 days eating/drinking more than planned
I'm pretty happy with this week, next week's goal is a further 2kg.
The US non-GP proved at least one thing, that when it comes to creating a
FIAsco
the FIA are in a league of their
own.
Because of this we've gone into mourning on Fun-1 abandoning our apparantly
traditional scarlet colour scheme for a fetching tone of funereal
charcoal.
Not content with severely dropping the ball 2 weeks ago, the FIA have
now decreed the teams to be
guilty,
well we've scratched our heads and we can think of three things they're
guilty of, but it's not what the FIA's comedians have come up with.
The bulge being my waistline.
A couple of months back I set myself a target of trimming off 10kg by
midsummer, I'd have been happy with 5kg and it would have reversed the
Xmas period gain that I've not shed this year, but 10kg seemed acheivable
and would have been good for my long term health etc. I didn't plan any
particularly serious exercise or diet, I was just trying to do a little
more of the former and cut back overall on the latter. So how's it
progressing? Pretty poorly to be honest, which is why I'm blogging about
it, sure I can do many more situps and pressups than when I started, and
the morning run to the station has become faster, but the goal is now 13kg
away. Therefore something more drastic is called for.
Hence my blogging about it, I'm going to post a weekly update in here
to shame myself in public to keep off the pies and booze. Exercise
wise I'm going to be more rigourous and disciplined, and I'm currently
working out a timetable for activities I can fit in around my day.
I'm using the Hackers' Diet
for dietary assistance, so expect to see plenty of charts etc later. Atkins
sounds tempting but a little too extreme for my omnivorous tastes.
So today is Day 1, the goal is 13kg away, lets see how much closer it
will be next week!
