One of the lesser things that cropped up at Monday's London MoMo meeting was Christian Lindholm's off-hand "oh, you can now have dots in Yahoo id's, for those of you late to the party". As someone lumbered with a slightly crap Yahoo id I've grasped the nettle and I'm now also "Jim.Hughes" on Yahoo. It's a shame there's no obvious transition path from one id to another, so I've gotta re-enter all/most of my Yahoo IM contacts and unsubscribe/subscribe from various Yahoo groups.

Actually I'm already wondering if the transition is worth the hassle, vanity id's, do they really make any sense? It's not like I use Yahoo for anything but Yahoo groups and occasional IM via a Jabber gateway (to about 4 people). The simplest route is to just use the new id for IM.
